Eric W. Shamlin is an Emmy, Cannes Lion, and Peabody Award–winning producer, technologist, and executive working at the intersection of Hollywood and Silicon Valley.
Recognized as one of the entertainment industry’s leading voices on AI (1, 2, 3, 4, 5), he empowers world-class creatives and studios with AI “superpowers” while advocating for responsible, human-centered adoption.
Born in Texas and raised in Alabama, Eric grew up a military kid with a global outlook shaped by life on the move. He is now the inaugural Governor for Emerging Media at the Television Academy (aka The Emmys), Chair of its Innovation Advisory Committee (fka: AI Task Force), and trusted advisor to A-list creators and studios worldwide.
His career began nearly 30 years ago as a field journalist for ABC News. Since then, he has launched breakthrough products (VUSR, Monks.Flow), pioneered VFX (Sin City, Apocalypto, Spiderman 2), dented culture (1, 2, 3, 4) and helped shape the leading AI-native content studio (1, 2, 3, 4, 5).
His four Emmys include uncovering a lost chapter of American history, beheading audiences inside Fox’s Sleepy Hollow, unlocking alternate histories in Apple’s For All Mankind, and animating Zac Efron in Netflix’s Down to Earth. He’s been honored as a Cannes visionary, awarded two Peabodys for advancing journalism with technology, and has collected sixteen Cannes Lions for pioneering work in advertising.
Eric has also led creative and technology initiatives for Apple, Entertainment One/Hasbro, Technicolor, and Omnicom.
Today, he advises companies on how, when, and why (or why not) to adopt AI.
